Raw food for your puppy
Puppies eat more for their size than adult dogs, and the amount changes almost month by month. Most start on one simple protein and add more once they have settled. Here is where our range fits:
- Puppy Mix: beef, chicken, offal and green tripe, the blend we made for younger dogs.
- Chicken Mince: 100% NZ chicken minced with the bone. A single protein, and a simple place to start.
- Breeders Mix: beef, horse, goat and offal. A good base for a big puppy, and cost-effective for breeders and litters.
- More single-protein minces: Beef Mince, Veal Mince and Goat Mince, to bring in one at a time once your puppy is settled.
- For variety later: Active Dog Mix, Fussy Mix, Wild Mix and Green Tripe. Change one thing at a time, so it is easy to see what suits your puppy.
- Balance Mix: chicken, beef offal and green tripe. It is a balancer, so mix one part with two parts of any of our mixes or single-protein minces.
- Raw bones: beef, veal and goat bones in 10 kg cartons. Our puppy feeding guide covers when to bring in whole bones.
Use the allergen filter above the products to grey out anything your puppy can’t have. Beef and veal are listed separately, so tick both to leave out all cattle. Green tripe comes from adult cattle, so it counts as beef.
Weigh your puppy every week or two and work the amount out again as they grow. Our raw food calculator does this for you: choose Puppy, then their age. You should be able to feel their ribs easily without seeing them.

Raw puppy food: common questions
How much raw food does a puppy eat?
About 8% of their current weight a day at three months, easing to about 5% at six to nine months and to adult amounts of 2 to 3% by 12 to 18 months. A 12-week-old puppy weighing 8 kg eats about 640 g a day. Our puppy feeding guide has the full table by age.
How many meals a day?
Four meals for young puppies, three from about four months, and two by about nine months.
When does my puppy move to adult amounts?
Gradually, through their first year or so. Most dogs are on adult amounts somewhere between 12 and 18 months, and bigger breeds often take longer.
How long does a 10 kg box last?
A 20 kg puppy eating 5% of its weight gets through about 1 kg a day, so a 10 kg box lasts around 10 days. Smaller puppies take much longer. Boxes are cut into blocks, so you only thaw what you need.
How do I switch my puppy to raw food?
Mix a small amount of raw into their current food and increase it every couple of days over a week or so. If your puppy came from a breeder who raw feeds, start with the same protein.
Can I get it delivered regularly?
Yes, on most products. Choose Subscribe on the product page and pick how often you want it, from every week to every 8 weeks. You can change or pause it from your account as your puppy grows.
